Critz Announcement
Today at 5:00 p.m., I officially resigned my position with the Office of the 12th Congressional District. I am announcing my intentions to seek both the nomination for the special election to serve out the remainder of the current term and will immediately begin circulating petitions to secure my spot on the Democrat Primary ballot.
Unlike the other candidates and in deference to Mrs. Murtha, I kept my aspirations private to afford her the time she needed to make this very difficult decision. Although I feel I made the right decision to wait, it has put me behind those candidates who felt otherwise.
After discussing the upcoming elections with Mrs. Murtha I decided that this election is too important to the constituents of Western PA not to enter. With twelve years experience in Cong. Murtha’s office, the last three as District Director, no one in the field of announced candidates knows this district and its people like I do. More importantly is that I have an intimate knowledge of the needs and the ongoing projects in the district that is only gained through experience.
My experience also includes working with closely with our legislative and appropriations staff to make sure that we were responsive to the people of Western PA. As the Congress gets back to work, there are many important issues that are critical to our region. This district needs someone who knows where our citizen’s stand.
I have begun the process of solidifying my support among the Democrat committee in the district and will be announcing later in the week some of my endorsements and who my honorary campaign chairman will be.
